Reading Time: 2 minutes
At least that’s what some people told me and I have to admit, I think they’re right.
First of all my liver needed a break after Croatia so that was alcohol out the window.
But then I’ve also been indoors all the time and have hardly spent any time on Facebook letting people know I’m still alive. So yes, boring.
As with everything in life, there is a reason. As I worked during Summer Sensual Days and the Croatian Salsa Festival in Rovinj I had a lot of photos and a lot of video footage that needs to be edited. I’d love to say “needed” but as I’m still in the middle of it that’s not appropriate yet. Sure, I know some of you will say “just put them online without editing them”.
Unfortunately, that’s not an option. When taking pics there are 2 ways to do it. You can shoot in jpeg and have the camera do the editing for you or you can shoot in RAW without having the camera do any editing. It’s a bit like Polaroid and negatives in the days of analog photography with Polaroid being jpeg.
So that means that all pictures that come online need to be edited first. Which takes a bit of time. Between sorting and editing it takes somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes before a picture is ready. So let’s say on average it takes 7 minutes per picture. That means that to put 200 pics online will take almost 24 hours (or 3 work days).
Let’s not even get started on video. Just importing and converting 10 minutes will tie my computer up for ages.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I love my job.
But it is the reason that I have disappeared and that I will stay “disappeared” for a while longer.
Meanwhile, I hope you’re having a great time and see you at the next one!
You can also find pics from the other photographers there so go and check them all out already! And don’t forget to tag yourself and your friends!
